Featuring the usual high standard of exhibitors, this fair is going to be so exciting since we’ve got the spectacular heritage listed backdrop of Ayers House to work with.

We’ll be using every inch of this diverse venue to showcase exhibitors and offer unique experiences such as the bridal bootsale, photobooth and live entertainment.

There will be a bar open so you can purchase some bubbles while you soak up the atmosphere and get down to ticking off your wedding planning list with all Brides to be receiving a LCA calico tote bag and a complimentary copy of The Brides Diary. Adelaide Hills Wedding Fair

There’s something about the Adelaide Hills that makes it a natural wedding destination. Beautiful countryside, amazing wineries that double up as venues along with a touch of heritage charm.

The second Love Cherish Adore Adelaide Hills Wedding Fair was held once again in the heart of Hahndorf where over 25 exhibitors showcased to hundreds of people who came to meet and greet with vendors and soak up some wedding inspiration.

The fair was sponsored by hills based vendor By The Oaktree who not only put together yet another showstopping display but also put up all of the lighting and was a driving force assisting in organising the event.

As usual, the standard of visual presentation was of the usual high standard that you come to expect from our fairs along with the friendliest vendors you’d ever want to meet.

There’s a few people to thank. To Kat Raynor for singing her heart out (this girl sings like an angel!) to Kirsty, Erin and Melanie for being amazing volunteers, to View Road Wines for handing out free glasses of their delicious wine and to Jenna from By The Oaktree for being a big part of putting the day together.

Spending time working with all of these amazing vendors is such a pleasure that I can hardly call it work. It’s more like a paid hobby. Stand by for lots of pretty images and amazing inspo.

McLaren Vale Wedding Fair

The Fleurieu offers an amazing variety of wedding venues and everything a couple looking for the winery & beachy vibe. It was therefore an obvious no brainer to organise a Love Cherish Adore wedding fair in this  beautiful part of our state.

We’re extremely proud and excited to be working alongside Chapel Hill The Retreat which is a stunning venue in McLaren Vale offering exclusivity, un rivalled views and a highly experienced management team behind it.

McLaren Vale wedding fair

The venue includes a multi use terrace which sponsor Renniks Hire will be covering with a marquee plus there will be the usual high standard of exhibitors onboard showcasing a variety of key wedding products and services.

Since we’re at a winery, there will be complimentary wine being served plus canapes so you can sample the high quality of food served at Chapel Hill.

The Brides Diary will be giving away complimentary magazines which fit nicely in our LCA calico bags.

The best thing is that entry is just $5 and you don’t need to buy a ticket! See you at the fair ♥

Credit Where Credit’s Due

In the days before I began working in the wedding industry I’ll be totally honest, I didn’t have a clue about crediting artists.  Digital content??? Copyright??? It just wasn’t on my radar I guess.

In the last 5 years, social media has exploded and has become such a huge part of our lives with images bombarding us on a daily basis. With this in mind we all need to be aware of the correct use of digital content so that we can be good digital citizens.

It’s not hard to notice that there’s Facebook pages and Instagram accounts popping up all of the time full of professionally shot images showcasing beautiful wedding inspiration. I see them all the time including pages based here in Adelaide with image after image reused and rehashed from the internet and in one recent case a competitors own page, with no credit to the original source!

Businesses and pages who use images that are then used to falsely promote facebook pages or instagram accounts without a credit as to the source of the image can find themselves in a legal situation as the incorrect use of digital content is actually against the law! #createorcredit which is the brainchild of Catherine Grace is a movement designed to raise awareness against the incorrect and unlawful use of images which is getting out of control.

Aside from the legal aspect of this issue, let’s take a moment to think about the creators of these images.  These are professional and talented people who have taken the time to skillfully style, co ordinate and capture these beautiful images.  To see them being blatently used to promote someone’s social media and business without credit is just not cool.

What Can You Do?

You can help this movement by either creating your own content (original content is the BEST content!), by making sure you always credit the source of images you post from Pinterest or the web in general or question those who rip off images from Pinterest or the web and go on to use them as their own.

Sermon over.

Barossa Wedding Fair

Last weekend I headed north to the beautiful region of the Barossa Valley and Angaston Town Hall to host LCA’s first wedding fair in this iconic destination wedding region.

It’s always exciting to see an empty shell of a venue transformed into a wedding wonderland and with the help of 25 or so exhibitors and half a km of fairy lights that’s exactly what we did!

2015-05-06_0029 2015-05-06_0034

Firstly a list of thanks.  To Jenna from By The Oaktree for her styling skills and for being an awesome road trip buddy. To Maggie from Miss Maggies Flowers for putting together a 5m long floral extravaganza plus styling her own beautiful stand, to Laura from Minty Mary Pea for greeting all of the Brides at reception with such gorgeous enthusiasm.  To Suzanne and her team from El Limon Vintage Pop up Picnic for providing us with food and drink and to all of the exhibitors who once again raised the bar of visual presentation. Finally to WHITE magazine for sponsoring the fair.

It takes a lonnnnnnnnnng time to co ordinate an event (event management is neither glamourous or easy!) however it’s such a great feeling when it all comes along together.

About Love Cherish Adore

I thought it was about time I introduced myself to you all as the organiser of Love Cherish Adore wedding fairs. Hello, I’m Susie……

I’m the wrong side of 39 (I may or may not be turning 40 soon **cough**!) and I came to live in Adelaide with my Husband and Daughter in 2012 from the UK which was a move we had planned to make for a long time. We had our visa’s all lined up and arrived only with our suitcases on a drizzly day in August with only a temporary rental lined up. No job, no home and no home comforts! We’d chosen Adelaide to be our new home for lots of reasons and I’m so glad we did.  We love living here in Adelaide.

A little while later Hubbie thankfully secured a job, Daughter went off to school and our contents of our container arrived 4 weeks after we moved into our long term rental.  The early days of sitting in an empty room on $7 picnic chairs from Kmart will stay with me forever but in a good way.  It was all part of the journey!  Fast forward almost 3 years and we now have 2 cats and a mortgage so Adelaide is definitely home now.

Love Cherish Adore was established early 2013 on the back of my experience as a vintage wedding fair organiser in the UK which was something I loved doing and dreamed may happen here in beautiful Adelaide. Talk about a dream come true!

I’d like to sincerely thank Sharon from Magnolia Press for her creative input in the early days.  Sharon creates and designs beautiful letterpress stationery and handpainted signage so stop by her website.

Team Love Cherish Adore

Love Cherish Adore fairs are designed to showcase a wide range of modern wedding inspiration with a vintage and rustic twist which is so in keeping with Adelaide’s heritage and wineries. Exhibitors are handpicked for their ability to present to you a visual feast of ideas which is oh so creative and pretty.  Like ‘Pinterest come to life’ said one Bride which sums it up pretty well!

I’m also passionate that the range of inspiration on offer is aspirational to all.  There’s nothing ‘too cool for school’ about LCA fairs.  Just beautiful and creative ideas in a humble, open and friendly setting.

I’d also like to mention how proud I am of the team of exhibitors who showcase with me.  They go to extraordinary lengths to present this inspiration to you and it’s always such a pleasure to see what happens behind the scenes. Seeing exhibitors connect with one another, exchanging contacts and ideas.  Smiling, hugging and having fun. It’s like a little wedding fair family that comes together with many exhibitors becoming valued friends.

Being local myself (we’re not far off getting our citizenship so I consider myself to be Adelaidean!), I try where possible to meet all of my exhibitors in person if they’ve not exhibited before and they all know I’m just an e mail or phone call away.  I pride myself on my speed of response to everyone that enquires with me which shouldn’t be a point of difference in business however I know it’s valued. Sadly I know what it’s like to send an e mail and not get a response….it’s not cool.

Support Local

On a day to day basis aside from being a Mum and a Wife, Love Cherish Adore is my full time job and a role I’m extremely passionate about. I spend my working hours within the SA wedding industry researching ideas, meeting new exhibitors, blogging and organising new fairs.   By visiting or exhibiting with Love Cherish Adore you’re supporting local Adelaide based wedding vendors and helping them grow and thrive. I sincerely thank you for that.

Who knows, I may look to expand interstate but for now you can count on me to passionately support the local wedding talent we’re so very lucky to have here in SA.

I’m looking forward to presenting to you the 4 fairs I have over the coming months including the Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and City plus of course heaps of local real wedding inspiration.

Bye for now!

Susie xx

Love Cherish Adore Norwood Wedding Fair

It’s always so satisfying to see months of planning come together and it certainly did at the Love Cherish Adore Norwood Wedding fair last weekend.

Judging by all of the feedback that’s been received I’m excited to say it was a huge success with Brides mentioning that they loved the modern vintage and rustic inspiration.

There’s so many people to thank who made it happen so in no particular order and without further a do…..

To White Magazine for their sponsorship and support.  It was an absolute pleasure to have editor Carla spend the day with us.

All of the front of house helpers who greeted all of the Brides and patrons on the day with big smiles and enthusiasm.

To Erin and Linda for putting together such engaging workshops!

To Plan Style Party, Fabulous Functions, Magnolia Press, By The Oaktree, Le Pink Petite and The Ink Room for co ordinating the 2 inspiration tables.  They were showstoppingly beautiful!

To all of the exhibitors who once again raised the already high bar to present beautiful stands and amazing products and services.

To Kelly, Justin and their team at Utopia at Waterfall Gully and Gladnville Hall for providing us all with scrummy high tea offerings.

Love Cherish Adore Your Business

cbw blog

On the 20th May ’15, I’m excited to announce that LCA will be hosting a creative business workshop titled Love Cherish Adore Your Business, afterall, your business deserves to be loved cherished and adored!

This workshop has been work in progress for some time and with the help of Rene Gallagher from The Vintage Bride Boutique and the girls from Market & Style Co, I’m so excited about it actually coming to life.

Like many small businesses, LCA was created for me as a Wife and Mum to be able to be creatively fulfilled within the pockets of time that being that Wife and Mum allows me to be. I don’t consider myself any different from all of the creative small businesses in SA, Australia and the world who do the same. To love what they do.

I’ve worked in the wedding industry for well over 5 years now (prior to that I had a 10 year career in commercial banking) and during this time I’ve learnt alot and made many mistakes. One thing I have learnt over this time is the importance of  keeping your enterprise moving forward along with a strong visual marketing strategy. There are many ways to do this without breaking the bank which this workshop will help you to do.

The biggest difference of all from when I first began working in the wedding industry to now is the growing importance of social media and your business presentation both online and in retail, fairs and markets..

You can be the best at what you do but how you present it to your audience both online and in the real world can be make or break. Fact.

The workshop to be held at The Props Department will cover the following:

  • Social Media –  An introduction into why you should do it, how to do it well and how to save time doing it.
  • Branding – Give your business an identity and keep it consistent.
  • Photography – Some tips on why it’s important and some tips on how to do your own
  • Expo and market presentation – Wow your audience with some kick ass visual merchandising

The day will be fun, informative and motivational suiting any type of creative business within the wedding industry, retail or market scene.

Cost: $150.00 including light lunch

The Props Dept 12 Logan St Adelaide 10am – 3pm

How To Be Successful At A Wedding Fair

A post a little out of the ordinary since it’s not directed at Brides to be.

If you own a wedding or event industry business, chances are that you’ve either considered exhibiting at a wedding fair/expo or you have and maybe it wasn’t successful for you.

As far as marketing and promotion of your business is concerned, whilst my opinion may be biased, I don’t think anything can beat an opportunity to meet with your target market in person and there’s no better way to do that than at a fair or expo.

As an organiser of wedding fairs, my job is to ensure that Brides to be (and an increasing amount of Grooms too!) are presented with a balanced amount of modern inspiration so they come away full of ideas and contacts to make their plans become a reality.  From an exhibitors point of view they are naturally looking for good quality footfall and by that I mean people who are serious about planning their wedding and not just a free sample of cake.

What’s interesting is that some people may be more successful on the day of the fair than others and so I’m happy to share with you a few tips and some good old fashioned advice when it comes to being an exhibitor as ultimately what you get out of the day is all about what you put in.

By planning your marketing budget well in advance, you’ve got time on your side so that you can think about how you are going to present your stand so try not to book in a fair or expo last minute. This means you won’t be stressing over ordering business cards and brochures etc!!

Make sure you tell your social media followers and customers know that you’re attending the event as this may trigger a buying response from some who had considered engaging you since this is their chance to meet you.

Have a strategy in mind too.  Are you looking to get more business?  Test or launch a new product or service?

How you present yourself on the day is the first impression a potential customer is going to have of your brand and by brand I mean you and your business.

By making your stand as creative as possible through some modern visual merchandising techniques you’ll naturally gain interest from people walking by.  These days fairs have progressed rather alot from popping your products on a trestle table with a white table cloth and a few business cards.  If you must use a table or trestle then maybe think about using a covering other than a plain white table cloth.  What ever you do use though MAKE SURE IT IS IRONED!!

If you’re stuck for ideas then do some research, there’s plenty available online and maybe also consider hiring some props from local event rental companies to give your stand some va va voom.

Consider also bringing along some thing for potential buyers to sit on when they approach you.  That way you’ll be able to have a more meaningful conversation.

Branding is vitally important too so that your potential clients can continue to recognise your business in the future.  With this in mind ensure your logo is visible although preferrably not with a pull up banner (they’re best suited to corporate and commercial expos and not the wedding scene)

Backdrops can also be important to give your space some creative depth plus they provide a further opportunity to present  your products.

Sales Techniques

So you’ve got a creative display which is a big tick but it doesn’t stop there.  You’ll still need to put yourself out there!!

I always encourage exhibitors to bring along with them someone to help them out on the day.  There will be times when you need to have a rest break to have a bite to eat so you want to ensure you don’t lose out on any enquiries while you’re away from your stand. Having someone with you means that one of you can field initial enquiries while the other can spend time having quality conversations with potential clients so you’re getting the maximum possible out of each and every person who stops by.

Body Language

It may seem elementary however your body language is absolutely vital at all times.  You need to look approachable so in no particular order do not:

  • sit
  • slouch
  • eat
  • use your phone
  • fold your arms
  • yawn!

If you do any of these things as clients are walking past your stand,  I guarantee you that 99% of them will not stop and so you may as well pack up and go home.  ALWAYS greet potential clients with your best smile and the warmest greeting possible.

Furthermore, don’t stand behind your stand or table as it will create a barrier between you and your potential client.  By standing to the side you can be more proactive in engaging people.

Follow Up

Always ask if your event organiser is capturing email addresses and whether they are passing on this information to you after the fair.  If they are not then ensure you have a way of capturing the details of people who have visited your stand and are interested.  Running a giveaway or competition is also a good way of getting interested parties to give your their details.

After the event, send them an e mail to thank them for visiting your stand.  I use mailchimp to e mail my marketing database. It’s free and very easy to use.

Make it memorable too by offering people a little something like a free sample.

One of the biggest advantages of exhibiting at a fair aside from meeting your target market is meeting your peers within the industry.  You may know of them already but by taking the time to say hello, you’re leaving them with a lasting positive impression.  Even if they are effectively competition, by establishing a relationship you may be able to refer business to each other when you’re fully booked and vice versa. This may open up some new doors for you?

Make sure you also like and follow their social media when you get home and good karma will follow.

Manage Your Leads

It’s best not to attend a fair with the expectation that you’ll get  zillions of bookings on the day.  Organising a wedding is an emotional transaction and it may take time for people to respond back to you however it is the beginnings of a possible relationship with a new client. By getting some information like a name, you can begin to communicate with potential clients with their first name which turns your lead from cold to warm.

Not least, you’ll be building on your brand.

I hope you’ve found this useful?  Later on this year LCA will be presenting some Love Cherish Adore YOUR BUSINESS workshops featuring social media and visual merchandising experts to help you build your brand.

Barossa Wedding Fair

In preparation for the Autumn fair at Angaston next year, I recently spent the day in the beautiful Barossa Valley to meet up with some exhibitors and sponsors and to also scope out the venue at Angaston Town Hall which is hosting the fair on Sunday 3rd May 2015.

First up I headed to Stevens Estate Garden in Williamstown which is a romantic ceremony venue with varied and versitile options along with the most photograph opportunities within 100sq metres that I’ve ever seen.

A private homestead, this ceremony venue offers plenty of shade, beautiful landscaped gardens and creature comforts such as a brand new toilet block plus rainy day backup options such as a beautiful terrace overlooking the dam.

Ceremonies are conducted in places that provide the best photographic natural light, set in a tranquil environment with views of water and open paddocks. There are heaps of little features that make this venue so unique – check out the swing, the hay stack sofa, the succulents, the bridges, open water, the chandelier……

The onsite cottage also offers an amazing opportunity for couples to have some rustic and unique photographs too.

2014-11-26_0009 2014-11-26_0010

After our visit we headed further into the valley to meet with Miss Maggies Flowers who is one of the sponsors of the fair.  We chatted through some exciting ideas together with By The Oaktree and also visited the venue.

After that we stopped by to see Bethany from Viva The Flowerstore who are also exhibiting at the Barossa fair which is a stunning store also situated in lovely Angaston.
