Flower Workshop

Last month I took a day out to have some ‘me time’ ! Along with Jenna from By The Oaktree and Erin from Made of Whimsy, we spent the day with Liesa from Fleur De Lys at one of her lovely flower workshops.

The overall objective for the day was to have some girly fun and learn a trick or 2 about flower arranging.

2015-10-01_0001 2015-10-01_0002

First of all we headed out to the flower market to choose the flowers we were going to work with.  This was a great opportunity to see so many varieties and Liesa was so knowledgeable about them all rolling off all of their names and care needs.

2015-10-01_0003 2015-10-01_0004 2015-10-01_0005

We then went back to her workshop and began preparing the flowers ready to be arranged with Liesa giving us constant tips on the day to day needs of flowers and how to make them last as long as possible.

We also received a sweet gift pack containing some proper scissors to enable us to get cracking straight away.

After a couple of hours we broke for some tasty lunch and enjoyed a glass of bubbles before returning to complete our arrangements.

2015-10-01_0006 2015-10-01_0007 2015-10-01_0008

Overall I think we did pretty good for novices! Being able to take home our creations was a high highlight to the day.

I highly recommend this workshop which would be an awesome hens day or just like I did for a bit of valuable me time!

Wedding Planning with By The Oaktree

Wedding planning can become an all consuming task which many couples find quite over whelming. Scheduling in the time and energy to plan a wedding can be difficult and knowing who the best vendors are is golden information.

Using a wedding planner can therefore remove some of this stress and get your planning underway leaving you with time to enjoy the build up to your big day.

By The Oaktree are established event stylists who know who is who in the SA wedding industry so it seems logical for them to offer a brand new wedding planning service! Here’s what they have to say about their brand new and exciting service!

Wedding Planning with By The Oaktree

After working closely with a lovely couple of ours who had only 6 months to plan their wedding and with both of them working busy full time jobs, it opened our eyes to how many great contacts and relationships we have within the wedding industry!

So after considering how we could assist more couples like this, we are excited to launch a different type of wedding planning.

Listening to the future Mr & Mrs H, we were able to match vendors with their personalities and style straight away. By The Oaktree then made contact with each of them to obtain quotes, which were then all sent through to the couple for them to look over on weekends and make adjustments and decisions.

As we were also styling their special day with our vintage props, we were able to offer a lot of advice as to what things would work together and other things that wouldn’t. As the bride said ‘I only care what my dress looks like and you (BTO) can do everything else’…we were there to offer advice on celebrants that would match their personalities, colours of flowers that would work together with the dresses and stationary along with details about where the ceremony should be held so that the photographer could get the best backdrop on the day.

As my background is in interior design (I also worked on their new home too!) I was able to draw up optional table seating plans to see how it would best work for them to fit all of their guests into the space along with the dance floor, bar, lounge area and of course the cake!

Looking forward to sharing the photos with you in 5 months time! Yes it only took us a month to plan their whole wedding and now they can sit back and enjoy the ride…Kitchen Tea and Hens Night planning is up next!

Hands down Autumn is my favourite season and the Adelaide Hills comes alive with colour at this time of year.

This gorgeous engagement session shared by Bridget Quain Photography, who is also based in the hills is full of love, excitement and beautiful Autumnal colour.

The shoot took place at Wairoa which is a lovely house and garden in Stirling/Aldgate and offered a striking contrast to the couple’s scheduled Summer wedding.

You can meet Bridget on 14th June at Hahndorf Memorial Hall as she’ll be showcasing once again at the up and coming Adelaide Hills Wedding Fair.

[Chair styled by The Queens Quarters]

Your Honeymoon offers the perfect opportunity to tick off a bucket list destination and you pretty much deserve that after planning a wedding.

My Husband and I travelled to Mexico for our honeymoon which was totally amazing. A private villa set away from the main resort, soft white sand with our own cabana, 10 a la carte restaurants plus on demand delicious cocktails that I couldn’t sample as I was pregnant! Hubbie got stuck in to those though. Oh yeah. No sympathy for his pregnant Wife!

When it comes to planning your honeymoon, it can often feel like a difficult task since at the end of the day, it’s another thing to do on the never ending list of things to do! In these situations it’s best to delegate to a professional.

Utopia & Glanville Hall

A big part of planning LCA fairs is to get out and about meeting with new and potential exhibitors and vendors. It’s a part of my business that I like the most since it normally involves lots of tea drinking!

I recently  met with Kelly Markos the owner and operator of two stunning and very different venues here in metro SA. These gorgeous venues are Utopia at Waterfall Gully and Glanville Hall.

Kelly manages both of these gorgeous venues along with her Husband Justin,  an award winning chef with a reputation for producing delicious menus and their team of experienced event professionals.

What was heart warming to hear was Kelly and Justin’s strong culture to make both of their venues a friendly and welcome place for couples to host their ceremonies and receptions. They make great effort to get to know all of their couples and help guide them where needed during the lead up to their wedding day.  They also don’t insist on their couples using a preferred supplier list and remain as flexible as possible and open to ideas.

Utopia at Waterfall Gully

I met Kelly at their first venue Utopia which is set within the conservation area of Waterfall Gully to the East of Adelaide just minutes from Greenhill Road. You’d never believe you’re so close to the city here as it has a gorgeous country feel about it.

Since the venue is heritage listed, it’s extremely picturesque and full of character incorporating stunning views and of course the iconic waterfall which offers spectacular photo opportunities whatever the season.

2015-02-25_0001 2015-02-25_0002 2015-02-25_0007

Glanville Hall

Kelly and Justin acquired their second venue Glanville Hall which dates back to 1856 in 2014 and since then have refurbished it into a magnificent and elegant venue.

Located in the seaside suburb of Semaphore, this historical venue is surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens next to a green golf course.  The building itself is best described as striking offering multiple options for ceremonies, photo opportunities and reception rooms.  The venue can accomodate both large and small weddings and with the support of Kelly and her experienced team, everything will be thought of leaving you to enjoy your day as it unfolds just perfectly.

2015-02-25_0006 2015-02-25_0004 2015-02-25_0003

You can meet Kelly and her team at our Adelaide wedding fair on 12th April at Norwood Town Hall who will be on hand to chat to you about your wedding plans and how these to beautiful and very different venues may be the perfect place to host your wedding.

They’re also providing catering on the day so make it a date and enjoy some high tea inspired food and drink to make your visit on 12th April a memorable event.

The Vintage Bride + Le Pink Petite Patisserie

As you drive out of the CBD on the Payneham Road, you will find two of the cutest boutique outlets on the left hand side.  With their walls painted in pink, you just can’t fail to notice The Vintage Bride Boutique and Le Pink Petite Patisserie.

What’s so gorgeous about these pretty little shops, is that the owners of these boutique and unique businesses are also really good friends.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped by to say hello to Jenna and René…..

[Image above courtesy of The Vintage Bride Boutique]

The Vintage Bride Boutique

Run by Rene Gallagher, this Bridal boutique is utterly magical since it’s full of beautiful vintage gowns and accessories,  all of which have their beautiful and unique story. The range of gowns available runs through every decade encompassing many different styles and fabrics too.  What’s also great is Rene’s ability to remodel and tweak a gown to make it 100% perfect for its second Bride. I also love the fact that these gowns are totally on of a kind so you won’t find another Bride wearing the same design.

There’s also a range of handmade accessories available that Rene herself has designed and made from headpieces to belts, using upcycled material so nothing is wasted.

René really goes out of her way to make her Brides feel really special and understands that buying your dream gown is a huge part of your wedding planning. There’s also new stock arriving all the time too so well worth more than one visit.

Le Pink Petite Patisserie

Just next door, Le Pink Petite Patisserie really is like something out of Paris offering delicate works of art that you could stare at all day before devouring them.  A truly visual and delicious feast of the eyes and tastebuds.

Owner Jenna not only caters for her patisserie clients but also for Brides to be looking for an exquisite wedding or engagement cake plus also all the petit fours, desserts and macarons your heart desires.

With both of these gorgeous places next door to each other, it’s an ideal spot to bring your Bridesmaids and entourage, to try on your dream dress and then pop next door for a welcoming spot of tea and something sweet as a treat! Wedding planning perfection.

Pretty in Pink at Al Ru

Following their engagement in Fiji, Nathan and Cosmina tied the knot last year at beautiful Al Ru Farm.

They first met when they were sweet 16 and had been together for 8.5 years before getting married.  Bride Cosmina orignates from Romania and so their wedding was a family affair with many of her relatives travelling all the way from Romania and the US to be with the couple on their big day.

The Bride wore a stunning gown by Liza Emanuel and the Bridesmaids wore long dusky pink dresses with different necklines.

The pink hues and pretty details flowed through the day with a gorgeous 3 tier cake complete with hand detailed sugar flowers designed by Qween of Cakes and bouquet by Angelik Blossoms who is one of our Norwood Exhibitors this coming April.

Their photographer was Bridget Quain Photography who has (as always!) captured the day just perfectly. Her timeless style really compliments this classic wedding.

LCA Loves ♥ Grand Cru Estate

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Grand Cru Estate recently which is a hidden gem of a venue in the Barossa/Eden Valley.

Set on 300 acres, this historic estate dates back to 1890 and was built by Peter Seppelt himself using handpicked stone from within the property.

Grand Cru has so much to offer couples looking for a private setting for their wedding with secluded courtyards, established and beautifully maintained gardens, a lake which is the perfect ceremony location plus a reception function room and a new addition of homestead accomodation.

Perhaps the most notable selling point of this venue is how welcome you’re made to feel. Nothing within reason is too much trouble at all.

2015-02-07_0001 2015-02-07_0002 2015-02-07_0003 2015-02-07_0004 2015-02-07_0005 2015-02-07_0006 2015-02-07_0007

The homestead which has recently been renovated, provides luxury accomodation and a unique opportunity for a Bride to get ready with her Bridesmaids and a place to stay after the wedding. Home from home, it provides thoughtful little touches to complete your wedding weekend.

Privacy is high on the agenda at Grand Cru with both big and small weddings being catered for.  Infact, a recent couple held their wedding at sunrise with picnic baskets full of dreamy breakfast treats. How very unique and amazing is that?!

The team from GrandCru will be exhibiting at the Angaston Fair on 3rd May 2015.  Angaston Town Hall 10.30am- 3.30pm  $5 entry.
