When Irish lad Ciaran popped out for a few birthday bevvies he never expected to meet his future wife Danielle ‘My sister dragged me out for a couple of quiet Sunday drinks. I was full of cold, but that didn’t stop Ciaran stealing a kiss… so we always joke that I was his best birthday present … and he also ended up with a terrible cold for weeks!’

After a surprise and emotional proposal in Port Douglas, they began focusing on creating a wedding that was both laid back and elegant. It also had to be as simple as possible as they already had a young baby in tow who demanded their constant attention!

Once they had locked in their venue at Longview they found that inspiration then came naturally to them which they describe as being rustic chic and since Ciaran is proudly Irish it also had an Irish twist. ‘With many of Ciaran’s family flying over from Ireland for the wedding it was also important to incorporate his heritage into the day which included mini bottles of Baileys as favours and a handfasting tradition into their ceremony; an ancient Irish Celtic tradition that binds hands with a chord with the infinity symbol.’

They thank all of their amazing vendors who helped them create their day however, it was photographer Bridget Quain and their Deacon Andrew who they remember the most. ‘Bridget our photographer was marvellous! She had the patience of a saint with pulling everyone together for photographs – and bearing with me while I tended to my daughter. She kept it all light and fun and the photo’s turned out spectacular, better than we could have hoped.’
