High school sweethearts Hayley and Jarred’s wedding on a Thursday meant their guests got an extra long weekend!

Their engagement story began in Japan on holiday which is a special place to both of them and a fitting place for Jarred to pop the question. ‘We went to the Fuji Zakura festival and Jarred was behaving very strangely. He had a bit of a tummy bug so I just put his behaviour down to that! We were walking around and posed for a photo when Jarred popped the question. He had asked an old Japanese man to take a picture for us. The old man couldn’t work Jarred’s phone so we ended up with around 500 photos of everything but the proposal as the phone was in burst shot mode!’ said Hayley.

The Beach Huts and Blues Restaurant was the only venue they went to see and provided them with a colourful backdrop against their chosen native flowers. They also thoughtfully chose to make a donation to a couple of charities in lieu of gifting favours.

Not wanting to keep things to the last minute (except for their speeches!) Hayley worked hard to create a number of DIY details which included dried rose petal confetti. ‘Our lounge room floor became a drying room in the lead up to the wedding for all the rose petals. I painstakingly laid out each rose petal (probably more carefully than required!) and dried enough for all our guests. The rose petal photos are some of my favourites so the effort felt worth it!’

Their relaxed big day was captured by the Kerry Rose Photography who is also one of our vendors at our next wedding fair on Sunday 27th May at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre.
