Pre- wedding Hair Guide

6 MONTHS PRIOR

  • To get your hair in optimal condition for your wedding day begin weekly at home deep conditioning treatments.
  • If you’re wanting to change your hair colour, now is the time to start thinking about it. Allowing yourself and your stylist time to tweak it to exactly how you want it for your day.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

  • Unless directed by the hairstylist otherwise, ensure each bridal party member washes their hair the night before.
  • As a guide give your hair two shampoos for optimal cleanse, followed by one conditioner. Avoid using Pantene, Tresemme or Sunsilk on your hair as these products are silicone based and will make the hair too soft to work with.
  • Also avoid applying any products to the hair e.g serums, smoothing creams, argon oil etc. as these products can make the hair too soft and slippery to work with. Your hairstylist will add the necessary product to your hair on the day.
  • Blow-dry your hair as smooth as possible but don’t use a straightening iron over it.

ON THE DAY

  • Wear a loose button- up shirt (no woollen clothing or hoodies) to avoid pulling over the top of finished hairstyles.
  • Avoid applying face creams and products too close to the hairline.

6 MONTHS PRIOR

  • Practice good skin maintenance and co-ordinate a series of facial treatments leading up to you big day.

1 MONTH PRIOR

  • To boost your ceremony glow visit a dermatologist for a gentle exfoliation, like a chemical peel or gentle laser treatment.
  • You’ve heard it many times before but drink lots of water, get enough sleep, exercise and maintain a balanced diet.
  • Avoid trying new products and consider wearing extra sun protection.
  • Use a mild exfoliator and apply moisturiser regularly to both your face and body.
  • Moisturise your lips with a good vitamin E lip balm.

1 WEEK PRIOR

  • Try to avoid salty foods, excessive carbohydrates, alcohol, and caffeine.
  • Try to also not to overdo your exercise in the week before your wedding as all of these things cause your body to retain water and can result in a puffy face and eyes.
  • Drink plenty of water.

3 DAYS PRIOR

  • To ensure your skin is smooth but not irritated, get waxing done no later than 72 hrs before the wedding day. This is very important because makeup will not stick to a freshly waxed face or eyebrows.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

  • Lightly exfoliate and moisturise.
  • Exfoliate lips with warm water and your toothbrush to ensure your lips are silky smooth.
