Last month Laura from The Bride Lab jetted off to the big apple for Bridal Fashion week to experience some of the world’s top designers showcasing their brand new designs! Over to Laura…..

Not long after I opened The Bride Lab I read about New York Bridal Fashion Week. It sounded really, really fun, and I wanted to be there. After almost a year of juggling a new business and a new baby, I figured I had earnt myself some baby-free time so last month I headed over to New York and it was AMAZING!

New York Bridal Fashion Week (or market as the industry professionals call it) is an event that involves designers from all across the world visiting Manhattan to show their latest collections and the newest trends in bridal fashion. Some designers hire private venues, while others share large vast and beautiful spaces to set up individual displays. It’s a week-long whirl-wind of meet and greets, runway shows, and cocktails. I thought I’d share with you three of my personal favourite designer highlights from NYBFW2017.

Alexandra Grecco

These guys have been on my radar since I opened The Bride Lab last year. Based in New York, this was the perfect opportunity for me to meet Alexandra herself and see her latest creations. This range is stunning and full of the latest bridal trends: Kimono sleeves, capes, and a little bit of sexy. Managing to blur the line between modern and vintage there is a style in her collection to suit every bride!

Anna Campbell

With a huge international following, Anna Campbell gowns are instantly recognisable by their signature embellishments. This year is her 11th bridal collection and at New York Bridal Fashion Week she introduced us to a brand new, sexy fitted silhouette in the Blake, Kira, Harlow and Saasha gowns. Available in classic lace or silk crepe, the new gowns come with the option of embellishments for a classic AC bride, or without for a pared-back look.

Theia Couture

There is always something fun about Theia Couture and my favourite from the 2018 collection is the Simona jumpsuit. Made from a classic satin, the kimono style sleeves are very much on trend and are balanced by the fitted waist and wide legs. This piece is perfect for a modern bride who isn’t afraid to stand out from the crowd! Another strong trend in the latest Theia collection is the plunging neckline which was a strong feature across many international designer pieces.

Loving the neckline and modern kimono influences on wedding gown designs.
Adelaide based Caleche has designed some similar ones recently
